PICE CARES

“We Heal As One – amidst the COVID-19  Crisis”

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Chapter Colleagues,

Our Chapter is undertaking a rice-giving activity for trisikad drivers.

This activity is aligned with the PICE National Statement on the Covid-19 crisis, signed by National President Dr. Suero on April 3, 2020. We quote, “PICE Chapters are encouraged to donate food and other necessities to the less fortunate and the needy”.

This activity is also the implementation of the BOD agreement last April 4, 2020 to reserve our excess funds from previous donations, for use in the Covid-19 crisis. Instead of medical frontliners, we are selecting the poor sector, specifically the trisikad drivers sector.

For Batch 1, we are selecting two (2) barangays in Iligan City, namely: Mahayahay and Palao. PP Janet Domato who has connections with driver associations, and PP Romy Manzano who has connections to barangays, guided us in the selection and vetting of the list.

For Batch 2, we will work on selecting another two (2) barangays, this time in Lanao del Norte.

Here are the specifics for Batch 1:

• No. of target recipients = 219

• Budget for 3 kg of rice per pax = P150.00

• Total Budget for 219 pax @ P150 each = P32,850.00

• Buying of Rice : c/o Janet and Des

• Repacking of Rice : c/o DE Aly Khan, Barmilah, Liza, Roel

• Transport/Distribution of Rice : c/o PPs Tata, Romy and Ely, others

• Target Distribution Date: April 21/22, 2020 at Palao and Mahayahay barangay halls

Other volunteers are very much welcome. However, remember to keep safe first.

We may not all be physically present for this activity, but everyone can contribute in one way or another. Our prayers that may this endeavor go smoothly will ensure its success.

With this activity, we know we can alleviate somehow the plight of some trisikad drivers. Together with their families, we know they will be grateful. But how we wish we could help more. Be that as it may, the thought of having done a few something good will warm our hearts.

Thank you, everyone. God bless us all..

PICE National Statement

Post from Facebook

The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. (PICE) fully recognizes

the sacrifices and services rendered by the health workers, frontliners, police and military personnel, government and private workers especially the Civil Engineers who are in the forefront of providing the necessary healthcare and quarantine facilities all over the country in our fight against COVID-19.

These courageous and dedicated men and women deserve no less than our highest respect and that they must not be discriminated in any manner.

PICE wishes and prays that all persons infected by the disease make full recovery and that with the extreme efforts of quarantine, the curve shall be flattened at the earliest possible time. As one Nation, we must join hands in order to defeat this menace so that the health workers, frontliners and patients will be able to go home and enjoy the loving comforts of their families.

As Civil Engineers, although most of us are complying with the home quarantine requirement, we are expected to help by utilizing our technical knowledge and resources to develop innovations and efforts that are helpful in the ongoing battle against the virus.

The PICE National has maximized its resources for its corporate social responsibility at this time of crisis. With the cancellation of the planned projects and activities, PICE Chapters are also encouraged to

donate food and other necessities to the less fortunate and the needy, in addition to the health workers and frontliners in their localities.

The Filipino Civil Engineers is one with the Philippine Government in

its efforts to eliminate the virus and revert back to our regular lives. While the construction industry is severely affected by the stoppage of work, we shall religiously comply with the directive because it is for the best of our country and for the common good.

We Heal As One! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
